The outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a rapidly evolving situation and as this situation unfolds, our priority is to care for all our patients and the local community. To support this, we are making important changes based on the advice and recommendations we receive from Metro South Public Health.
Making appointments over the phone
Before we can book appointments, our friendly reception staff will be asking a few simple questions to allow us to identify any patients that are considered at risk of COVID-19.
Triaging at entry points
Before entering our practice, we have one of our dedicated nurses screening each patient including taking their temperature. This is to ensure no at risk patients are entering our practice.
We have dedicated our front waiting room for our patients who are well and our back-waiting room for our patients who are sick. We are hoping this will help minimise the spread of infection. We are also asking you to observe social distancing. This means taking a good step back from our front counter and not leaning on it when checking in or out.
Our practice has increased our already high level of infection control measures ensuring all horizontal surfaces and frequently touched areas are cleaned more regularly. This includes wiping down door handles, our front counter, pens, EFTPOS machines, lift buttons and railings.
Patients who are considered at risk of COVID-19 whether from overseas travel in the past 14 days or close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 can now make an appointment for a telehealth consultation with one of our Doctors who will also advise you instructions on next steps if further testing or treatment is required.
A telehealth consult may also be available for those patients who meet the Medicare criteria and have been seen at our practice in the past 12 months. Please contact us for more details.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
